Message from the presidenT
Following Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord, I had the joy of visiting my uncle at his home. He’s been housebound for several months due to illness, and although it had been a while since our last visit, it felt like no time had passed. It was a beautiful opportunity to reconnect and share updates from the family. We laughed together as I told him stories about my nephew—how much he’s grown, all the sports he’s diving into, and the energy he brings to our family. He especially enjoyed hearing about our recent Sacred Hearts Academy events, and the room was filled with warmth.
Before leaving, I gave him a palm from our parish since he’s no longer able to attend Mass. I gently reminded him to keep praying the rosary, promised to return near Easter, and gave him a kiss on the forehead. That simple moment reminded me how powerful presence, time, and love can be.
In Matthew 25:34–36, Jesus tells us, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink... ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.” During Lent, we are called to renew our hearts through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving—but these aren’t meant to be burdens. They are invitations to love more deeply, to serve more intentionally, and to be the hands and feet of Christ in our daily lives.
As we journey through Holy Week, let us look for opportunities to be living reflections of mercy and compassion through the Corporal Works of Mercy. Whether it's a simple visit, a kind word, or a listening ear—every act of love matters. Let’s carry the light of Christ into the lives of those who need it most. Let’s truly remember Jesus’ Passion, Death, and Resurrection.
Before sharing the exciting activities coming up, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to our incredible Parent Board for organizing a truly memorable Easter Egg Hunt and Movie Night on campus this past Saturday, April 12th. It was amazing to welcome over 1,500 families, friends, and— for the first time—guests from our wider community. It was a fun event enjoyed by all.
A huge mahalo to our dedicated volunteers. They worked tirelessly to stuff and hide more than 10,000 eggs around the Administration Building. They also prepared and served hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, and cotton candy to hungry adults and children. What an amazing feat! I’m especially grateful to Haukea Ho, our Parent Board President, whose vision and leadership continue to bring so much aloha to our school and community. Mahalo as well to Mo‘olelo Studios for once again partnering with us to provide expert logistical and operational support. Events like these remind us of the power of community and collaboration.
Looking ahead, I can’t wait to see everyone at Mele on the Lawn on Friday, May 2nd, here on campus—it promises to be another joyful celebration!
I also want to extend my sincere thanks to all Catechists and those that are parish volunteers who have dedicated their time and hearts to help welcome new members into the Catholic Church this Easter. Your faith, commitment, and love are a beautiful reflection of Christ’s call to share the Good News. Remember, each of us plays a role in the New Evangelization—we are all called to be witnesses of hope and faith.
Please note that there will be no school and our campus will be closed on Good Friday, April 18th, and Easter Monday, April 21st, in observance of this sacred time.
Wishing you and your ‘ohana a blessed, peaceful, and grace-filled Holy Week.
